ADAM WITH JAMES MCGREEVY, DAVID ARQUETTE AND HOOTIE AND THE BLOWFISH — 5am to 10am PST, October 12, 2006

6:00 OBESE FELINES

Former Governor James McGreevy is going to be on the program today. It makes Adam want to run for office, and he knows exactly how he can get elected. You just have to say anything you want, absolutely anything, followed by “…let’s send a message to those fat cats in Washington!”

6:05 THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR BRA

Anybody familiar with Adam’s rants will be familiar with this one, he thinks, but here it goes anyway. Every year, Victoria’s Secret unveils the Six Million Dollar Bra. When he hears about it, Adam always wonders, “what the hell? How big are the breasts that go in that?” How big must a bra be to cost six million dollars? But of course, that’s not the reason. It’s just because they shoved a huge diamond in it. That’s how they always raise the value of things. Let’s make it more simple. Let’s just put a check for a dollar amount in whatever item it is.

6:09 THE PREACHER MAN

A listener calls up. He works at a construction rental yard, and he’s a huge fan of Adam’s philosophies.

6:13 THE BLOTTO IN THE GROTTO

They take some calls from people who want tickets to the Blotto in the Grotto live broadcast at the Playboy Mansion.

6:31 MORE BLOTTO IN THE GROTTO

Apparently, the person who was originally coming in to shave half their body, has backed out. They have to find someone else to come in and do this today, Adam says. They take more calls from people who might be willing, but they have problems finding someone who’s quite hairy enough.

Someone comes on the line who will do it, and he describes himself as “furry,” but has no beard. That’s great, Adam thinks, but here comes Anthony on the other line, who has a beard, too. Wes calls up; he’s got plenty of hair, a full beard, and three inches of hair on the top of his head. This is too close to call, Adam feels. Who can get to the studio first, Brusca asks? Turns out, most of them are on their way to work. They find someone who is about twenty minutes south of the studio, who’s going to try and make it in.

6:48 NEWS

Teresa covers the news.

6:58 SPORTS

Dave covers the sports.

7:11 VEGOOSE?!

The show is giving out tickets to a big music festival in Las Vegas, named Vegoose. They’ve been wracking their brains trying to figure out why it’s called Vegoose, Adam says. Now, they’ve got the creator of the festival on the line. His answer? They don’t know. They just came up with it.

Horrible name or not, they’re giving out tickets, Adam says. And they’re giving them out via Oswaldo’s Tom Petty Game. Oswaldo sings a Tom Petty song, callers guess which one it is, and if they get it right, they get some tickets.

7:31 JAMES MCGREEVY

Former Governor of New Jersey, James McGreevy, joins Adam in the studio. He’s famous for “coming out”, and proclaiming that he was gay, while in office. How did his father take the news, Adam wonders? He took it very well, James says, considering that he’s a former Marine Corps drill instructor. “Perfect,” Adam says. The gay bashing in our society is a little ridiculous, James feels. When he was on his way in this morning, he was watching some preacher advocating condemnation of homosexuals. That kind of behavior is damaging, he thinks. Not just to the homosexuals, either — it’s damaging to the person making the hateful speech. It’s a very un-American attitude. Yes, Adam says. We should judge people not by their sexuality, or by the color of their skin, but by the car that they drive. “A unique approach,” James thinks.

As far as ‘coming out” goes, it’s got to be a huge weight off of James’ shoulders, Adam thinks. It definitely is, James agrees.

What about the political career, Adam wonders? “It’s done,” James says. He wants to work with kids. Young gay people in this country have a much higher suicide rate. Adam has a theory about this topic, and it’s a little controversial, he says. It’s his opinion that there’s a high percentage of gays that were molested as children, and that’s what turns them gay. He wants to know what James thinks of that. “I think you should stick to radio,” James says.

8:07 IT’S SHAVE TIME

Listener Anthony enters the studio, ready to be shaved, and Big Tad goes to work. Anthony’s a military man, so he’s used to this, he says.

Adam takes calls from people who have ideas on how they might win tickets, while Tad shaves away. Governor McGreevy has to come back into the studio during the “stunt”, because he can’t find his cell phone.

8:45 DAVID ARQUETTE

David Arquette comes into the studio, and helps Adam tell a very strange tale about David’s first “unscheduled visit” to the Loveline studio. Since both Adam and David are fathers now, they swap a few stories about raising their newborns.

9:15 NEWS AND SPORTS RECAP

Teresa and Dave recap the news and sports.

9:32 HOOTIE AND THE BLOWFISH

Hootie and the Blowfish enter the studio, and play a live acoustic set.
