Adam with Ozzy and Ray, Gallagher, Frank Vincent, and Shirley Phelps – May 21, 2007
6:01AM – THE FANTASY AND THE REALITY
Adam’s wife cried during the Sopranos last night and Adam realized it wasn’t because she was so much into the fantasy but instead because she is only a little into her reality.
He finds himself going around after Lynette explaining the rules of life, but she doesn’t seem to get it. For example, she’s continually without the $10.00 Adam insists that she needs to carry at all times. “The people that have reality crushing them on a daily basis don’t go to a movie and get swept away,” says Adam. Danny had a similar experience with his own marriage – after being in an alcoholic-driven fantasy for so long, when he finally started participating in the reality, Gretchen wouldn’t have it.
Discussing the upcoming movie review of Shrek, Adam points out the difference between computer animation and hand-drawn cartoons and how you instinctually prefer one over the other. Just like a plastic reproduction of a wooden steering wheel and a real vintage wooden Ferrari steering wheel – even at 20 feet away, you just know.
6:26AM – HOME IMPROVEMENT QUESTIONS
Hoping his wife is still asleep as she hates this segments, Adam fields home improvement questions from listeners.
Teresa finally got a tour of the Carolla home – and was very impressed by Adam’s portholes of his pool in his bar.
6:53AM – FRANK VINCENT
Frank Vincent from the Sopranos is on the phone – and post suicide attempt in last night’s episode, as opposed to the middle of Season 3, Adam decides that since there are only 2 episodes left, he is constantly wondering whether the next time a character walks into a bar or gets in a car is going to be his last.
Frank’s a standard in mobster movies, having been in Goodfellas and Raging Bull (his second film!) among many others. Check out more about what he’s up to on frankvincent.com
7:12AM – TERESA REPORTS THE NEWS
Teresa reports the news – here’s a couple of the stories:
Sylvester Stallone has been convicted and fined for bringing human growth hormone into Australia.
On VH1’s Best Week Ever, there was a list compiled of the sexiest nerd boys ever which included Jason Schwartzmen, the guy from Heroes, and John Stewart.
7:33AM – GALLAGHER
Gallagher is in the studio and explains why you can’t really compare him to other comedians in terms of highest grossing since he ran his own business, but regardless, he’s the highest grossing comedian of the 80s.
Now, Gallagher’s been working his way down, hitting everything he didn’t hit on the way up. Teresa is distracted by something else on the card – Gallagher’s been up all night doing day (er…night) trading.
8 years ago, Adam was doing Loveline with Dr. Drew and Dishwalla was on the show. Asking about the strange name, the band said something about being inspired by the third world country and Drew brought up the strangeness of somebody in this position watching a Gallagher concert – his famous act was destroying produce and these poor people have nothing. Enter Adam and Jimmy’s movie: Kill Gallagher, a “The Gods Must be Crazy” film with the natives traveling to Vegas to kill Gallagher for his wasteful act.
Kimmel actually went to Gallagher’s house to pitch the film, and came back saying Gallagher was nuts and was designing an anti-gravity machine for his kid… Jimmy finally calls in to explain exactly what he witnessed…
7:53AM – LARGE SPACES FOR GROUP BONDING
More Gallagher: Gallagher talks about the audience he’s been sued by, including a plant he put there to begin with. He also sued his brother because he was performing as Gallagher, but the brother wouldn’t listen to Gallagher.
There’s some more discussion about what Gallagher represents to different people and another proposed invention a la Gallagher – large spaces for group bonding (and potentially orgies and fraternities).
Couple of topics later, Danny admits to thinking that Gallagher’s a freak show, but he’s funny so go see the show.
8:18AM – OZZY AND RAY’S MOVIE REVIEW
Ozzy and Ray are in the studio to review the movie Shrek the Third, but Adam gives Ozzy a hard time about some pork that he made and the kids not wanting to eat their porridge.
Reviewing the movie, Adam gives Ozzy a hard time about his English pronunciation skills. Ray and Adam start telling a story about some valley adventures back in the day, when Ray used to go to a sushi resturaunt Danny used to manage, score some coke, and so on. Anyways, Ray ended up at a buddy’s house with his friend and girlfriend – Ray gets into an argument with the girl, there’s a big stash of coke in the house, and Ray gets arrested.

9:41AM – TERESA RECAPS THE NEWS
Teresa recaps her news.
9:47AM – SHIRLEY PHELPS, RELIGIOUS NUTBAG
Religious nutbag Shirley Phelps is on the phone to talk about their plans to protest Rev. Jerry Falwell’s funeral. Although Falwell was known for being anti-gay, Shirey and gang will be protesting because he was “willing to dumb down the scriptures,” lectures Shirley. Danny tries to bait her with a comment about his gay uncle being on his ass, but she’s focused on her plans for upsetting the funeral-goers.
Apparently they also got some prime real estate, since after talking to the police they got a spot adjacent to the entrance to his home. Besides chanting, Falwell in Hell and Pro-Gay Falwell are two of the planned signs, but Adam has to cut her off when she starts going into details as she begins using the f-word for gays.
9:56AM – ADAM WRAPS UP THE SHOW
