CALL ADAM NOW!!(866)901-ADAM

6:01 AM – HOW SAY YOU?

Listeners call in for our morning round of “How Say You?” Listener Brandon calls in and asks Adam if he spent the weekend at Kimmels house. Adam says he did indeed spend Sunday there, Kimmel fired up the pizza oven and Adam relayed that there is nothing worse than announcing you are going on a diet when someone is offering you fresh pizza! It drove Adam crazy, he started smelling the pizza, “I start smelling the sausage…the pizza starts talking to me, feed me, feed me…who’s that Mr. mushroom? No, its Johnny sausage, come on Adam show me what you got! No, stop talking to me!!” Then everybody starts looking at him like he’s crazy and then Adam has to look like a fool and yell, “stop looking at me, I can’t help it, the pizza is talking to me!”

6:28 ARE – KAREEM ABDUL-JABBAR CALLS IN

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar calls into the studio this morning from his home in Los Angeles. It is a thrill for Adam who grew up a huge Lakers fan to talk to Kareem. Adam asks Kareem if he ever had trouble with his name and did he ever want to change it. Kareem says he wanted to assume an Islamic identity, he therefore never wanted to change his name, “it was all about what was going on inside of me” Kareem says. Kareem says it was Mohammed Ali who inspired and really paved the way for him to follow the Islamic religion. Kareem says it was easier for him to embrace Islam after Ali took “some of the heat off of it” by embracing Islam prior to Kareem’s personal embrace with the religion.

Adam asks Kareem if it was always a foregone conclusion that he would grow up and play basketball due to his extraordinary height and athleticism. Adam asks if he had been born short, would he still have wanted to play basketball. Kareem confesses that his “first and most intense love was really baseball!!”

A listener calls in and asks Kareem if he thinks Kobe Bryant is as good as Michael Jordan. Kareem says Michael has a different approach, “he works with the other guys in another way.” Adam says it seems that Jordan “may have a little more fire in his belly.”

Kareem’s newest project, On the Shoulders of Giants: The Power of History Told through Basketball and Music is an audio book and documentary film about the Harlem Renaissance and the early days of basketball. Herbie Hancock composed the music for the film and “literary lights of that era” comment on the Harlem Renaissance. For more information visit, www.OSGmovie.com

6:53 AM – WHERE HAVE ALL THE JEWISH NAMES GONE?
